THE NEED OF THE HOUR

Today, many decry Bible Colleges, Seminaries and Christian Schools springing up everywhere. They feel that starting another Bible College or Seminary is one too much.

Even though one go along with this concern, we must not loss sight of the obvious need for trained leaders and ministers of the Gospel. It is sad to see individuals entering the Christian ministry without basic and adequate preparation. These individuals who enter the Christian ministries without adequate theological/ministerial training hide behind erroneous view that “All one needs in the ministry is the anointing.” They often support their views with cases from the New Testament; making references to individuals like Peter, who they claim was not educated yet was mightily used by God.

The anointing is important for effective ministry. Yet, we are enjoined to “Study to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2: 15)

The need of the hour is for men and women who, couple with the fire of the Spirit in their bones, are trained and adequately equipped to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth. The Body of Christ, the Church, and the world need individuals who are trained to handle the Word of life skilfully.
